An amazing new fashion event that will be the first of its kind in Australia will be held in Perth in November. Eco Fashion Week will showcase fashion ranges made without harming animals or the environment, that are used from recycled materials and that are grown organically. #nopesticides The brainchild of eco fashion designer Zuhal Kuvan-Mills, Eco Fashion Week will be held at iconic Perth winery Houghton’s, in the Swan Valley from November 19-26, 2016. #cuttingedge #sustainable
Having exhibited her eco friendly designs overseas, Kuvan-Mills realised that emerging designers who specialised in eco fashion might not have an outlet to showcase or launch their designs. Note: this is not a hippie convention! It’s a fully fashionable, cutting edge fashion showcase of design from both Australia and overseas. #No-it’s-not-all-hemp-and-granola!
International designers showcasing at Eco Fashion Week include Canadian designer Sans Soucie, Kym Couture Kollection from the US, Senorita Awe Sumo from New Zealand, Elephantasia – a collection of 12 international designers that has been featured by Vogue UK, The New York Times and The Huffington Post and British jewellery makers Delight London.
The venue, Houghton’s Winery, is set within Australia’s first Humane Food Region, so declared by the Swan Valley Council. The region produces foods which are made with an animal welfare-friendly approach as defined by the RSPCA. According to its former Mayor Charlie Zannino, who launched the first humane food region, “ It means animals have a better quality of life and are respected as living, feeling creatures.” #VegansRejoice!
Eco Fashion week will show how eco friendly fashion can be both beautiful, luxurious and trendy while still being friendly to animals and the environment. Displays by local artisans and artists will also be featured. Workshops, pop-up shops, panel discussions, student designer shows and what sounds like some very exciting runway shows and awards are making us all feeling pretty pumped.
Registrations for designers are still open. To apply, hit the Perth Eco Fashion Week website. For more info, call Zuhal on 040 747 9520. #SustainableistheNewBlack #GetWiththeProgramme
