Resort wear on the runway and a more relaxed vibe off the runway, as we check out what everyone’s wearing at Fashion Week Day 4….
The resort-wear focus of this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2016 finally emerged on Day 4 with Camilla, Bondi Bather and Swim runways. Again, there were some spectacular venues, with Camilla showcasing at Sea Deck in Darling Harbour. Sea Deck is a permanent three deck 5 star floating bar (boat) on the harbour. Camilla’s showcase was as extravagant as it was spectacular with African music and dancers dressed in Camilla wear opening the showing. Loads of fun and loads of colour.
The idea for a resort-wear theme’s been called a smart decision by fashion industry insiders. That’s because the resort-wear market is by far the world’s biggest due to being transitional, or trans-seasonal. Continuing today, a range of designers sponsored by FIJI Fashion Week will be making their first appearance at Fashion Week Australia in the Pacific Resort Runway Show. This’ll be followed by the Raffles International Showcase featuring designers from the Raffles College of Design and Commerce.
Maybe because of the resort-wear on show, the vibe off runway also loosened up heaps. The weather was a bit cooler than the opening days of 26-27 degrees, too. Everyone seemed to be a bit more chilled than we’d seen before. More laugher, fun, and even models hamming it up for photographers with bursts of dance. You can probably spot the vibe in our street style snaps below…. All photos by Dimitra Koriozos!
Meanwhile, the closing runway tonight once again departs from the resort-wear theme, but promises to be another grand spectacular! It’s Oscar De La Renta , with Aussie-international super model Shanina Shaik leading the runway.
