April is proving to be an interesting month for creative takes on classic trends and the emergence of exciting new ones. Something about trans-seasonal dressing seems to inspire innovation and eccentricity, and we’re loving it! Check out what we’re noticing here and OS!
The Double Denim
Denim on denim has come a long way since Britney and Justin’s iconic 2001 red carpet appearance. All denim ensembles aka the Canadian Tuxedo continues to be a go-to street style look for fashion week attendees around the world. It’s the casual getup of choice for celebs like Emily Ratajkowski, Gigi Hadid and Margot Robbie. As the story goes, the Canadian tux started gaining momentum in the 1950s – and with an inexhaustible range of cuts and washes to choose from, we can’t see this trend slowing down anytime soon.
The Blazer Dress
Nothing calls for creativity more than trans-seasonal weather. Blazers continue to be a staple for the street style set, but those who’ve invested in longer line cuts are doing away with pants and making the most of the remaining warm weather. With a touch of formality and playfulness, the blazer dress trend offers the best of both worlds.
The Trouser Silhouette
With the sun officially set on Australian summer, Melbourne locals are embracing long sleeves once again, and it’s all about the details. Oversized with tapered wrists and fit and flare styles continue to catch our eye. Go big or go home!
International Street Style Moment
Spotted at Seoul Fashion Week, these two are making the case for “scientists gone punk”. Bonus points for the matching turtlenecks and tinted lenses.
Street Stylers We Love
SHE’s from New Zealand
A self-confessed ‘maximalist magpie’, Aki of The Sleek Avenue is hard to ignore. With bold style showcased beautifully in incredible locations, her feed is full of colour and bound to inspire. Definitely one to watch!
HE’s from Melbourne
Melbourne based Kwari Jacobs is a must-follow for fans of suave style and classic tailoring. He’s not one to shy away from bold colour choices, either.
If you’re ready for a unique take on the ubiquitos coffeegram, away from the standard flatlay with coffee cup, sunglasses, bag/keys on the table, these two ‘grammers won’t disappoint!
Be back next week, street-stylers! Keep struttin’ your stuff for us in the meantime!
