After four full days and nights of runways, exhibitions, cultural and business programmes, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d seen everything you’d need to see in fashion and styling at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival. Not so. Day 5 saw the fashion set hit Fashion Plaza with as much bang as every other day!
While the runway action started at 5pm, there was plenty to keep the fashion set interested at fashion central. An on-site Diesel exhibition saw brand owner Renzo Russell attend this year’s VAMFF. His exhibition provided a history of the brand that has now branched out into lifestyle products including crockery. Success story Australian Fashion Labels also has an on-site display, located smack bang in the centre of Fashion Plaza. It’s located right next door to SAMSUNG whose interactive digital display gives you the opportunity to see what it feels like to be a model on the runway looking out at the crowd. SCARY!
On top of this, Myer’s off-site runway at their Bourke Street store was a huge hit (more of that in our next post) with both customers and VAMFF patrons, some of whom had traveled from interstate to be there. Meanwhile, back at the Royal Exhibition Building, the excellent National Graduate Showcase took place on the main runway followed by GQ’s menswear runway.
Here’s what we took in on DAY 5 at Fashion Plaza.
