As well as having our fashion eyes in cities both country and worldwide, this week we were papping the crowds en route to VAMFF’s runway shows. The outcome: a whole lotta standout street style. Here are six of the strongest trends from Melbourne Fashion Week.
Dangling from lobes everywhere, and a massive spotted trend at VAMFF, the statement earring is still big and screams woman power. If one design stands out over any, it has to be the oversized.
Whether horizontal or vertical we all love a stripe, and currently we’re seeing them on everything from dresses to suits to jumpers. As well as the hot-right-now pinstripe, things are also looking a bit more nautical.
While the black ankle variety is still out in force, there’s now a shiny new style in town. Spotted at VAMFF in vampy knee-high form, gold and silver boots are taking the recent metallic trend down to our toes.
We were photographing flats everywhere a few weeks back in a wide range of shapes and styles. Now the most popular non-heeled look appears to be white, pristine and sporty – from laced sneakers to canvas slip-ons.
Designer bags never really go out of fashion: they’re chic, practical and have the power to make any outfit look on the money. Who are we wearing slung over our shoulders currently? In the streets, its Gucci and Louis Vuitton, darling. At VAMFF, it’s Gucci and Saint Laurent.
Its the reigning queen when it comes to latest trends and it was the newest head turner at VAMFF. Who knows how long its going to be around, but this is one statement piece that’s very much an eye catcher.
We’ve loads more to share from Melbourne Fashion Week so we’ll keep posting more street style captures from VAMFF here.
Meanwhile, we’ll be back next week with more man trends, looks on the street and to show you where international looks are heading.
